Strawberry Coffee Cake

8 oz. cream cheese, softened (250 g)
1/2 cup butter, softened (125 ml)
3/4 cup sugar (200 ml)
1/4 cup milk (50 ml)
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla (5 ml)
2 cups flour (500 ml)
1 teaspoon baking powder (5 ml)
1/2 teaspoon baking soda (2 ml)
1/4 teaspoon salt (1 ml)
3 cups fresh strawberries, sliced (750 ml)
1/4 cup brown sugar (50 ml)
1/2 cup chopped nuts (125 ml)

Preheat oven to 350∞F (165∞C). Combine cream cheese, butter and sugar. Beat until light and fluffy. Stir in milk, eggs and vanilla. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add to cheese mixture; mix until smooth. Spread half the batter in greased and floured 13×9-inch baking pan. Spread berries evenly over batter. Dot remaining batter over berries. Mix brown sugar and nuts; sprinkle evenly over cake. Bake 40 minutes. Serve warm. Yield: 15 servings.
